They say there’s no money left. Then take £5 billion from disabled people

This week, I cried. Not metaphorically, I actually sat at my kitchen table and cried.
Because once again, people with disabilities………those who already face the sharpest edges of society, are being asked to pay for a crisis they didn’t cause.
£5 billion in cuts.
From people who already get the least. From families already stretched to breaking point. From those often excluded from education, employment, healthcare, and dignity.
And at the same time…
No talk of taxing the superrich.
No plans to touch the wealth of billionaires who own everything from our land to our housing stock.
Just more slogans. More cruelty dressed up as economic necessity.
Let me be clear: this is not about affordability.
It’s about priorities.
And those priorities are sickening.
The UK’s top 1% each hold at least £3.6 million.
The top 10% hold 43% of the wealth.
And yet we’re told the cupboard is bare… for disabled people. For carers. For the ones whose needs are inconvenient.
I’ve worked for the NHS for over 20 years. I left my nursing pin behind, to set up my own not-for profit to reduce barriers in the workplace and education for our most vulnerable who have fallen through the cracks.
I’ve seen how brutal it is to navigate this world when your access needs don’t match the system.
And still, this broke me.
So here’s what I’m doing about it.
Inspired by I’ve launched a petition to tax the super-rich—the top 2%
JUST on their assets. Not on income. Not on wages. Just on the hoarded wealth that could easily fund services we’ve all been told we can no longer afford.
This isn’t about envy.
It’s about justice.
And frankly, survival.

Let’s show them this country still has a conscience.
